Stone has always fascinated me because it occupies a different relationship with time than we do. It carries the memory of ancient oceans, volcanic activity, pressure, movement and life itself. In this first Expedition Note, I follow a curiosity that began with collecting fossils as a child and continues through the stones I carve today. What can a fossil tell us? Can stone remember? And what happens when we carve a material millions of years old into an object that may outlive us? Perhaps we are simply adding another moment to a story already travelling through deep time.
